Even with the price of Bitcoin falling in recent weeks, a token created by Brazilians is attracting attention due to its rise. We are talking about DGTA, created by the new broker Digitra.com, which jumped from less than 3 cents at the beginning of June to around 22 cents at the time of writing.
Digitra.com is Rodrigo Batista's new cryptocurrency broker, that founded and was CEO of Mercado Bitcoin from 2013 to 2018, when he sold the exchange with 1,2 million customers.
The businessman is also co-founder of the tokenization company nTokens, the infrastructure company Átris, the security token exchange Estar and the insurance company 88i, all involved in the world of crypto and tokenization.
The appreciation of the DGTA token began when Digitra.com announced the start of the token buyback and burn program, a process known as “buyback and burn”. This strategy reduces the supply of cryptocurrency and increases its scarcity, which puts pressure on its appreciation.
“We had been planning to start our buy-back and burn project for some time, but we had regulatory uncertainty. But recently the CVM said that buyback and burning do not characterize a token as a security asset and we decided to launch the project.”
DGTA was launched a year ago, alongside the launch of Digitra.com. The broker uses the token as a points program to encourage new registrations, crypto deposits and, most importantly, trading on the platform. Tokens can be bought and sold on the Digitra.com app and Uniswap.
Unlike other exchange tokens that were used to raise funds, in so-called initial coin offerings (ICOs in English), DGTA was not used to raise funds for the project, built with capital from Batista and the Profitus fund.
As announced by Rodrigo, his remuneration until August 2026 will be made entirely with tokens, to reinforce his investment in the construction and growth of the brokerage and align the interests of the token owners, the exchange, and the CEO himself.
“Over the last few years, we have tested several functionalities in the construction of the token and the exchange and they are finally bringing very positive results”, says Batista.
